What to Expect in the Course:
You don’t want to just take your engine apart haphazardly and hope it runs again afterward, do you? In this course, you’ll perform a complete engine overhaul yourself—with our guidance, the right tools, and a check after every important step.

We’ll walk you through the process step by step using a sample engine. Then you’ll apply what you’ve learned directly to your own engine. That way, you’ll not only know what needs to be done, but also what’s essential for a thorough engine overhaul.

Schedule over four course days:
Course Day 1:
Disassemble the engine, assess the condition of the individual components, and determine the necessary replacement parts. Together, we’ll figure out what your engine really needs. You’ll order the parts to be delivered directly to your home and bring them with you on the next course day.

Course Day 2:
Thoroughly clean the parts and engine case, and correctly space the shafts. Here, too, we’ll walk through each step together and check the important intermediate steps.

Course Days 3 & 4:
Reassemble the engine step by step and complete the overhaul.

This course focuses solely on engine overhaul. You’ll handle the removal and reinstallation of the engine, fine-tuning, and other work on the entire moped at home or here at our Open Garage.

The big advantage: You do the work yourself, but you’re not on your own. We’ll show you the individual steps, monitor your progress, and help you select the right parts. This helps you avoid unnecessary trial-and-error and unsuitable components as much as possible.

We exclusively install points-type or VEC ignition systems. For individual components such as cylinders, carburetors, exhausts, or tuning parts, we’ll also give you tips and help you make the right choices. However, these components are not part of the actual engine overhaul.

Meeting time: 1:15 p.m
. Course start: 1:30 p.m.
Break: 3:00–3:15 p.m.
Course end (including cleanup): 5:30 p.m.

Notes:
• The cost of materials for your engine overhaul is not included in the course price.
• As a rough estimate, you can expect additional material costs of approximately 650.- for a Z50 engine. This includes ball bearings, shaft seals, the crankshaft, the ignition system, and the necessary small parts.
• Any additional parts required or requested—such as a clutch, cylinder, or tuning components—will incur extra costs. In some cases, it’s not until the engine has been disassembled that it becomes clear exactly what is needed.
• Everyone works on their own engine.
• We’ll guide you step by step through the entire engine overhaul and regularly check the key steps.
• Together, we’ll determine which parts need to be ordered or sourced in addition to the standard overhaul parts.
• Your engine case must be in serviceable condition on the outside. Cracked case parts or similar major damage should be ruled out before the course begins. Unfortunately, what you’ll find inside won’t be clear until after disassembly.
• In exceptional cases, additional replacement parts may need to be organized between course days. We do not keep replacement engine housings in stock.
• We provide the workstation and hand tools.
• Hearing and eye protection are also available.
• Open-toed shoes are not permitted in the workshop.
• A small selection of beverages is available for purchase from us.
