For the cost-effective repair of damaged or worn threads (in all materials) and as a structural element for thread reinforcement when using materials with low shear strength (e.g., aluminum, aluminum-magnesium alloys). The use of wear-resistant HeliCoil thread inserts not only repairs the thread but also increases the thread’s load-bearing capacity.
Design:
High-strength, free-running HeliCoil® plus thread inserts made of stainless steel, featuring high wear resistance, low thread friction within tight tolerances, high surface finish, and resistance to corrosion and heat. The flexible design enables even load and stress distribution, thereby creating durable, high-quality screw connections for all operating loads (static, dynamic) with ideal force transmission. Simple, quick installation results in a standard-compliant internal thread that can be used on both sides.
Complete repair kit for crank arms and pedal mounts with UN 9/16" 20G LH & RH (left- and right-hand threads).
Application:
1. Inspect the tap and threaded insert.
2. Cut the mounting thread using the special HeliCoil tap (the tap has two steps, so no pre-drilling is necessary and the damaged thread can be cut directly).
3. Screw the thread insert into the mounting thread using the installation tool.
4. Remove the drive pin using the pin breaker.
