The secondary jet is a key component for tuning your SI carburetor and primarily affects the low- to mid-RPM range. In the case of SI secondary jets with a double designation, they do more than just meter fuel: Due to their design, the gasoline is premixed with air right inside the jet, which helps optimize the fuel-air mixture in the partial-load range. The designation 48/140 represents the ratio of the two numbers—the lower the calculated value, the “richer” your scooter runs at moderate RPMs; the higher the value, the “leaner” it runs. It’s especially worth fine-tuning this setting for longer rides at partial throttle.
