From speed to driving force

A centrifugal clutch consists of:

Clutchbell - a drum that is firmly connected to the drive.
Centrifugal weights - they rotate with the crankshaft and carry the clutch linings.
Clutch pads - provide the necessary friction to transmit the power.
Tension springs - hold the centrifugal bodies inwards when idling.

At idle speed, the centrifugal weights remain inside due to the springs, the clutch linings do not touch the bell housing - the rear wheel stands still. If the engine speed increases, centrifugal forces act on the centrifugal weights. They press the linings outwards against the bell. Friction causes the bell to rotate and the engine power is transferred to the gearbox and on to the rear wheel.

The higher the engine speed, the more firmly the pads press against the bell until the full power is transmitted. If you reduce the throttle, the tension springs pull back the centrifugal weights and the clutch disengages automatically.
